Tamar K. Gottfried, M.D.

Tamar Gottfried is an Arizona native, having grown up in Tempe and graduated from McClintock High School. She attended University of Arizona on a Flinn Foundation Scholarship, spending summers in Mexico and Central America and becoming fluent in Spanish. Dr. Gottfried completed medical school at the University of Arizona in 1994 and received a full ride Dean’s Scholarship and a grant to study women’s health in Fortaleza, Brazil during her fourth year. She also completed graduate classes in medical anthropology during her undergraduate and medical school years- studying the cultural influences on women’s health and health care.
Dr. Gottfried did her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the famed LA County/ University of Southern California program, where she spoke Spanish to patients every day and experienced all aspects of women’s health care. She even participated in the data analysis of a study on declining sperm quality in infertility patients. After passing her boards and completing her residency, Dr. Gottfried moved her growing family back to Arizona to be closer to her parents and to take a job with the Casablanca Clinic in Mesa. In 2001, she started her own private practice in Mesa, providing obstetric and gynecologic care to women of all ages.
Dr. Gottfried practices exclusively at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa and at the Atlas Surgicenter on campus. Dr. Gottfried’s beautiful home-like office is on the campus of Banner Desert and offers in-house blood draw services, in-office minor surgery, including LEEP procedures, and radiologist-read ultrasounds in the office, as well as computerized medical records, video colposcopy and first trimester ultrasound for every new pregnancy. She enjoys taking care of a variety of obstetric and gynecologic conditions from contraception, to heavy bleeding, to abnormal paps, menopausal issues, dermatologic gynecology and basic infertility, to normal and abnormal pregnancy.
Dr.Gottfried is the past Chair of Ob/Gyn Department at Banner Desert Medical Center and has served as Vice Chairman of the Ob/gyn department as well as Chair of the Ob/gyn Peer Review committee. She continues to serve. as a member of the Ob/gyn Peer Review committee. Dr. Gottfried precepts medical students from the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix in the Community Clinic Experience as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is now excited to coordinate the Obstetric elective for the new Family Medicine residency program at Banner Desert.
Dr. Gottfried is the proud mom to 3 adult sons, 2 rescue dogs, 2 rescue cats and two aquatic turtles. She lives in Gilbert with her husband and enjoys going to the gym, seeing plays at Gammage, attending the Arizona Speakers Series and spending time with family and friends. Her main pastime is hiking, backpacking and travelling with the Arizona Trailblazers Hiking Club where she has served two terms as President and is a frequent hike leader.
Nalah Morrow, CNM

Nalah is a Certified Nurse Midwife born and raised in Southern California. She is passionate about providing equitable and evidence-based Midwifery care, with an emphasis on being culturally competent while providing patient-centered care to all women across the lifespan. She graduated from West Coast University in California, where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She then immediately started her Midwifery journey and attended Bethel University in Minnesota, where she earned her Masters of Science in Nursing in 2023. Shortly thereafter, Nalah completed a year-long Midwifery Fellowship in Washington D.C. During this time she had the opportunity to hone in on skills for low intervention care, waterbirth, vaginal twin birth, and vaginal breech birth. She has experience working in the hospital, birth center, and homebirth settings, where she had the ability to care for a full spectrum of women.
Patient education and shared decision making are at the forefront of the patient-centered care which Nalah strives to provide. She desires to have every woman who she has the privilege of caring for feeling heard and empowered. She is passionate about honoring physiological labor and birth whenever possible, while encouraging women to listen to their bodies and take ownership in their own health.
Nalah has three small beautiful children along with a lovely and supportive husband. She loves spending time with her family and encountering new adventures. She also has a love for animals and enjoys visiting both zoos and aquariums that are AZA accredited institutions across the United States. Nalah and her husband have a mutual love of basketball and are huge Lakers fans. They look forward to attending games both home and away whenever possible.
Teresa J. Patin, WHNP
After successfully raising her four children, Teresa received her associates in nursing and furthered her education at university of Texas at El Paso to get her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2000. She then worked in Labor and Delivery as a nurse and nurse manager and developed a love for caring for pregnant moms and their babies and even became a lactation consultant. In 2008, she graduated with her Masters of Science in Nursing as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner at the same university. Terri then decided to further her education to be able to care for women at all stages of life. We are pleased to bring in a clinician with ten years of experience providing excellent care for women.
Some of Teresa’s favorite hobbies include gardening, reading, and swimming in her pool. She loves hanging out with her dogs and taking them to dog parks. Teresa’s favorite color is green and her favorite vacation spot is the sunny and tropical islands of Hawaii.
